Prenatal/Pregnancy
Massage of Dallas
Relaxed in a
specialized pregnancy table, many methods of massage are both effective and
safe prenatally and during labor and postpartum periods of women's
pregnancies. The therapeutic bodywork focuses on the special needs
of the mother-to-be as her body goes through dramatic changes of the
childbirth experience. Prenatally, specific techniques can reduce pregnancy
discomforts and concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional
well-being of both mother and fetus.
Touch is vital to
the mother's physical and emotional well-being as she adapts to her new body
image. Regardless of individual circumstances, a pregnant woman's body
is challenged, changed and stressed in many ways.
Prenatal/Pregnancy
massage helps provide relaxation, relieve stress on weight-bearing joints
(ankles, low back and pelvis), alleviate neck and back pain caused by muscle
imbalance and weakness, assist in maintaining proper posture, assist in
removal of unwanted fluids and toxins to help in avoiding toxemia, and to
prepare the birthing muscles used during childbirth. Physical
changes associated with pregnancy: Increased
lumbar lordosis, pelvic tilt, increased kyphosis, coccyx may move back
especially during delivery, shortening and tightening of low back and hip
flexors and possible abnormal compression on discs and facets due to the extra
weight.
In the postpartum period,
specialized techniques rebalance structure, physiology and emotions of the new
mother. Also to help address stress from sleeplessness and carrying and
caring for a newborn. Referrals from a physician prior to
massage therapy are recommended.
It is not recommended to get a massage in the first trimester. |
